OGI utilized their team of GIS Professionals and Data Specialists to map the county using state-of-the-art computer aided mapping, historical cartography and geo-rectified satellite imagery. This specialized process has produced an extremely accurate and up-to-date digital map. To produce this map our team worked diligently converting raster images (scans of paper maps or existing color aerial photography) into digital vector drawings. In this case, there was not a whole lot of data to start with. This process involved creating a starting point from the close examination of deeds and acreage from county tax rolls. The combination of these tasks and the integration of specialized web-based mapping technology help create for the appraisal district of McMullen County

Their new interactive online map allows appraisal district personnel to search and browse high-accuracy land data and geo-rectified aerial images over the entire county. This user-friendly map displays roads, parcel lines, abstracts, water bodies, aerial imagery, NexRad radar, 10m DEMs(topographical lines) and school districts. This map will enable all officials of McMullen County Appraisal District to check the appraisal value of property, identify names and addresses of all property owners and identify all jurisdictional boundaries. The systems and data provided by OGI have also enabled the appraisal district office to improve response time, to information requests from the public with increased accuracy.

OGI to Map Jones County
GIS from the ground up.
OGInfo.com, LLC, (OGI) a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) services and products company has been awarded a contract to complete all GIS mapping for the Jones County Appraisal District. OGI will utilize their team of GIS Professionals and Data Specialists to electronically map the county using state-of-the-art computer aided mapping, historical cartography and geo-rectified satellite imagery.
The process is extensive and will involve going from some electronic drawings, legacy maps and legal descriptions to data conversion, scanning paper images to digital and to the deed research. Then, all digital drawings will be geo-referenced (aligned) to aerial images and parcel lines drawn to create shape files to be attached to the appraisal tax roll.  
OGI will then, using all of this newly created GIS data, design, produce and host an online county map.  This extremely accurate and up-to-date digital map will be available on the web and freely accessible around the clock. The new Jones County FastMap will be loaded with custom GIS layers like: roads, parcel lines, surveys, water bodies, pipelines, oil & gas wells, floodplains, parks, wildlife refuges, jurisdictional boundaries and city limits will be available to the public over the Internet to explore within three to six months.

This interactive map will allow users to search and browse high-accuracy land data and geo-rectified aerial images over the entire county. One of the benefits to office of the County Appraiser will be to greatly reduce the amount of foot traffic in the Jones County Appraisal District office. Free access to this map will enable all appraisal district employees and residents of Jones County to check the appraisal value of their property, identify names and addresses of other property owners and identify all jurisdictional boundaries. The systems and data provided by OGI will also enable the appraisal district office to more quickly respond with completeness and increased accuracy to information requests from the public.  This new online map will also save time and money on updates, map retrievals, acreage or irregular shape calculations, property identifications with map zoom in and up-to-date aerials.

After two days of greeting and meeting thousands of people and demonstrating the GIS products, services and data that OGI offers, I can honestly say that NAPE was a great success for OGI. OGIGov is announces the completion of the Gonzales County Appraisal District GIS project. Gonzales CAD now has full GIS with 93% of the 2009 tax roll mapped. Included in the GIS is detailed information on surface ownership data, road data, hydrology data as well as voter, school and 911 precinct data. We have also prepared an online FastMap for the county so that they will have the ability to access and work with their data anywhere they have internet access.
